The Seattle History Mural
Garfield High School, Seattle 2012
This mural span over 1000 square feet, telling the history of Seattle as a timeline beginning with the original Native inhabitants. The project was commissioned for the interior halls of Garfield High School, a historically listed building. The school has been a cultural hub for Seattle since 1923, boasting of famous alumni such as Bruce Lee, Quincy Jones and Jimi Hendrix. The mural was created to preserve history threatened by the rapid gentrification of Seattle in the post-tech boom. It serves today as a teaching tool for students and visitors alike.
