Joining Northwest Artists Against Extinction

Detail from my mural “Grateful Steward” which honors the Wild Salmon as Northwest keystone species.

I’m proud to announce that I have signed my name to the coalition of Northwest artists who support the removal of the Snake River Dam.

We are brought together by “Northwest Artists Against Extinction” which is a coalition working toward the dam removal project.

As an endorsed artist for the project, I will be partnering with the coalition to create murals that raise awareness for the issue. I’m deeply honored to be part of this effort and look forward to sharing the artwork with you in the next few months.

The horrific decline of our wild Salmon and the Southern Resident Orcas has been ongoing for years, and it feels wonderful to be offering my gifts in service to their survival.

These are the times we all came to earth for. Our gifts, passion and strength are needed now, more than ever. I’m deeply grateful for NAAE and the Save Our Wild Salmon coalition for facilitating this opportunity for me to contribute.

I hope to be sharing some more specific updates (and artwork!) soon.

There is a crucial window of opportunity this year in which we may convince lawmakers to vote for removing the dam in August. This would allow the lower Snake River to flow freely, and restore the wild salmon populations. This action is pivotal for not only the health of the wild salmon, but also for the survival of the endangered Orca Population in the Salish Sea.

Scientists have concluded that the dam’s power production are in steep decline, and could be fully replaced by existing wind, solar and rail energy technology.
